it was close, but janey r. was the first casualty to the cuss box. we are still waiting on the check from crazy aunt mary….we are revamping the store for spring and i’m pretty sure she called me stupid multiple times. i guess turn about was fair play becuase i kept yelling things like “crazy, obnoxious, stuborn woman”  the store is looking wonderful, and the cuss box is getting a healthy start.

there are lots of items of various awesomeness that i need to share with everyone. first of all…..I FINISHED THE HAT!!! HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHA….HA.

tobie's hat

i’ve decided that i enjoy knitting for tobie because she will wear what i knit. and i think she looks pretty darn cute…don’t you? now that the hat is finished i have completed two whole projects off my list…two down eleventy billion to go.

for those of you who missed miss patty’s party on saturday, let me tell you, she sparkled! harold had called us earlier in the week to tell us that her birthday was coming up, and wondered if we could do something to help her celebrate. could we do something? please we barely need an excuse to party. also its miss patty…she is our heart, how could we resist?  check out these pics….one day i hope that i can rock a pink boa and tierra like miss patty.

pretty pretty princess

and this might be my most favoritest picture of all time….look at his expression…wow, just wow.

a perfect couple

and best of all…i have a computer that works! i am now writing this blog from the comfort of my apartment with the unsolicited help of the cat. does that rock or what? cheers…..shannon

10 OBSERVATIONS ABOUT KNITTERS
February 6, 2009, 2:49 pm
Filed under: Uncategorized | Tags:

1,   Most knitters have really lived and accumulated wisdom during their lives.  They observe and are eager to learn and stretch their minds and abilities.

2.  They are always kind about sharing that wisdom, even when not ask [yarn choice, color choice ect.].

3.  A knitter is a positive person with Faith [I will finish this *** sweater even if it takes me two years!].

4.  Knitters will go the extra mile, because anything worth doing is worth doing right.

5.  Most knitters have cats. Some knitters knit with cat hair [ask Andrea].

6.  Most knitters are charitable people.  If the garment doesn’t fit or look good, they will pass it along to someone else.

7.  Contrary to non-knitter belief, most knitters [or those in my knitting community] are very fun and interesting people.

8.   If you are ever in need, call a knitter.  She or he knows that as yarn and needles interlock to make a garment, friendships and a helping hand interlock to knit a community.

9.  Most knitters have patience, because it’s not about a new pair of socks, [that you can buy at Wal-Mart] it’s about that hand dyed one of a kind Knitty Bits Sock Yarn that will make your pair of socks a work of art.

10.  Most knitters would love a gift certificate to Yarn for Valentines Day.

Our Shannon has a birthday on Friday, so if you can, send her a happy thought or give her a shout out for her special day. HAPPY BIRTHDAY SHANNON!

Knitting is Magic!

Yesterday I had my spirts lifted, and heaven knows I could use lots more of that, but thats another topic.  One of our very faithful customers came in and shared a story with us and I wanted to pass it on.  She had been in our store a week before,  I helped her pick out some yarn and a simple pattern that she was going to give her mom for her birthday.  That was as far as the story went that day, but as I said she came in yesterday to tell us that the gift was a success!!!  She wasn’t sure the gift was going to work because her mom turned 92, is battling dimensia and was having a rather bad day.  She cast on the 40 stitches handed her mom the needles and the magic began.  Her mom took off with needles clicking and smiles around.  She even dropped a stitch and the daughter offered to pick it up, but she informed her that she was quit capable of fixing it.   What a special moment.  It just reaffirms my thoughts about this wonderful craft, even when we are having a very stinky day, if we will just pick up those needles things will get better.   No matter the age, the level of knitting, or the mix of people, knitting is magic!  It doesn’t matter how far you travel, how old you get or how overwhelming the day is if you just pick up your knitting you will find a friend, be young again and realize the problems really aren’t that bad!…..Debbie
