My Christmas break has kind of had a rough start, what with the weather and worrying about grades not mention getting the flu. And as I was curled up in a ball of misery on my couch watching White Christmas, I realized something. It was during that really sappy scene that Bing Crosby sings Counting Your Blessings to some girl. (If you haven’t seen the movie, the gist of the song is if you’re down just count your blessings.) Well it was in the midst of Bing’s croonings that I decided I should stop feeling sorry for myself because I really have a lot of things to be thankful for, especially at yarn. So I decided to “count my blessings” at yarn.
1. COFFEE
2. Expresso
3. Addi Turbos
4. COFFEE
5. Point Protectors
6. Well-written patterns (there are a few out there)
7. COFFEE (I am extra thankful for coffee)
8. Stitch Markers
9. Running Water (water freezing in pipes=bad)
10. All the good company (that means you!)
So on behalf of all of us at yarn we would like to say thank you for all good times and loyal support this past year. We hope all of you have a very merry Christmas and a happy new year!

P.S. I fooled you didn’t I? You thought this whole post was going to be depressing didn’t you? Well you can’t really write a depressing blog at Christmas can you? There’s too many warm fireplaces, Christmas cookies and sappy Christmas movies to stay down for very long.
seriously…she is.
let me share with you a story…there once was an unfathomably awesome chick who had plans to knit a sweater. it was a plan that went no where until a groovy designer from new york convinced the awesome one to knit a better, unique sweater. so our hero ordered more yarn, only to have to sold out from under her when it arrived, (it did go to a really cool customer, so i can’t complain too much). this is the good part. the awesome one also happens to have THE BEST GRANDMOTHER EVER! who happens to read the yarn blog and newsletter. she called up debbie and bought the sweater yarn. merry christmas! she also sent a card to the store, so the next time you are in come check out what she wrote to you all. morale of the story…..my grandma is totally better than your grandma.
now for extra fun check out the parade of projects:
what do you do when you run out of yarn before your sweater is finished? you pick another yarn than matches and then make one of the COOLEST SWEATERS EVER. p.s. i think janie knit this whole thing in a weekend…she is in serious contention for an over-achiever award.
look at our fearless leader…modeling another finished knowknits felted garment
a billion dollars to whoever can recreate this awesome monkey for me…and by a billion dollars i mean possibly a six pack of beer.
jan made the tiniest sweater for a christmas ornament….it has raglan sleeves.
a fact that totally blew me away, i mean i was really impressed….then deb w. chirps up from behind me “why wouldn’t it have raglan sleeves?”…..deb w. obviously operates on a completely different level than the rest of us.
cheers….shannon
p.s. thank you very much grandmama, i love you.

which means that it obviously must be true.
if anyone cares to look at oprah’s favorite holiday gifts, you might notice a certain item that we offered a class on last month. it’s ice scrapper mitts…remember the ice scraper mitts deb w. designed? here let me remind you…
see, ours are much better than the ones you can buy…because the are handknit! in case you’ve changed you mind and truely want to be trendy we are offering this class again in january. just remember that we were totally awesome before oprah jumped on the bandwagon.
did you remember that we have a holiday open house THIS sunday? its going to be awesome, with homemade treats, fun and games, and of course our sparkling personalities. stop by…make some pom poms, play yarn ball game, and work on those projects that you still think you could possibly finish before chirstmas. (i personally have given up all hope and have resorted to just showing people pictures of the patterns, but i have abosolutely no problem motivating all of you….don’t worry about thanking me, i bully for free)
hey, did you miss the parade? check this out.
if you click on the photo it will take you to our flickr page….then you can see all the photos. apparently you can’t put a price tag on dignity, but if you could i think i sold mine for free. keep checking back because i just got my hands on a video clip from the event. i’ll be taking bribes b efore i put it on the website. (you’re going to have to pony up, cause i’ll plan on destroying the disk)
see you sunday!
cheers…shannon
